Background / Experience / Client Focus

Stephan  was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, and is a 2007 graduate of Wahlert Catholic High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. After completing his legal education, Stephan practiced law in Minnesota and then returned to his hometown in 2017 to begin serving clients in the tri-state area.

Since entering private practice, Stephan has developed a broad-based practice focused on estate planning, probate and trust administration, business and commercial law, real estate law, contract matters, and general civil litigation. He is known for his practical, solution-oriented approach and his commitment to providing responsive, high-quality legal counsel to individuals, families, and businesses.

After previously working at Fuerste, Carew, Juergens & Sudmeier, P.C. for 9 years, in 2026 Stephan made the decision to join Clemens, Walters, Conlon, Runde & Hiatt, LLP, where he is excited to continue serving his clients while expanding his practice within a growing, dynamic firm. He looks forward to the opportunities this transition provides and to continuing his work in the Dubuque community for many years to come.
